Mobility solutions for better conditions for people, climate and environment
A healthy, liveable and sustainable world becomes more and more important. As a result, emission requirements become more strict, both in terms of nitrogen deposition, soot emissions and greenhouse gases, as well as in general environmental standards and working conditions. These emission requirements are also increasingly becoming part of tender conditions.
At DLS we also value a healthy and sustainable world, which is why we expanded our product range with green mobility solutions for better conditions for people, climate and environment. These solutions help to make drive systems more sustainable and are suitable for both new (OEM) drive systems and drive systems of existing vehicles and machines (retrofit).
Solutions
Emission technology
Existing vehicles and machines with combustion engines are made cleaner and more sustainable by adding innovative exhaust gas after-treatment. Options include installing a soot filter (PM filter), nitrogen catalytic converter (SCR), or a combined system with a catalyst and filter (SCRT).
Hybrid electric drivetrain
The existing drivetrain of a vehicle or machine is expanded with an electrical system, consisting of an electric motor, electric PTO and battery pack (ultracapacitor). When idling, the combustion engine is switched off and all secondary vehicle functions are taken over by the electrical system.
Full battery-electric powertrain
The existing powertrain of a vehicle or machine is replaced by a fully electric powertrain with batteries for energy storage. The powertrain consists of a regulated electric drive motor, traction inverter, voltage converters and a battery system.
Full hydrogen-electric power train
Here too, the existing powertrain of a vehicle or machine is replaced by a fully electric powertrain. The electric powertrain here consists of a regulated electric drive motor, traction inverter, buffer battery, and hydrogen energy system with fuel cell stack with auxiliary components and hydrogen tanks. The powertrain is equipped with a basic battery (buffer battery) and fuel cell. The required energy comes from the fuel cell and is supplied to the buffer battery.
The benefits of retrofit
In addition to new vehicles and machines, the above solutions are also available as retrofits for existing vehicles and machines. This has a number of advantages:
- Avoid accelerated depreciation: you can continue to use your existing machines and vehicles for a longer time before you have to replace them with new zero-emission types.
- Limited investment: making your current vehicles and machines cleaner and more sustainable requires a smaller investment than purchasing new (emission-free) vehicles and machines.
- Higher ROI with regard to emission reduction: per euro invested, more kilos of emission reduction are achieved with retrofit than with the purchase of an emission-free vehicle or machine.
- By extending the lifespan, scarce raw materials and the energy required for the production of machines and vehicles are used in a more sustainable way
