Sustainability at Jelle Bijlsma
Jelle Bijlsma BV is active in the civil engineering sector for more than 60 years, and also carries out work in green maintenance, demolition works, recylcing, and transport. All this work is done according to the highest step on the CO2 performance ladder (level 5).
Jelle Bijlsma has been certified for the CO2 performance ladder for almost 10 years, which means that the company is committed to energy savings and reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, the company also strives for sustainability in other areas.
In the context of further sustainability, Jelle Bijlsma has chosen to equip four of their Terragator crawler-mounted dumpers with emission technology to reduce soot and nitrogen emissions. The machines, built in 2010, are equipped with Stage II diesel engines, which DLS equipped with SCR-T exhaust aftertreatment systems from HJS Emission Technology.
These SCR-T systems consist of a particulate filter (DPF) and nitrogen catalyst (SCR). This filters more than 99% of the soot particles and 95% of the nitrogen (NOX) from the exhaust gases of the dumpers. Due to this filtering, the emissions from the machines are now equal to Stage V. This retrofit solution also saves on the purchase of new machines by extending the lifespan of the Terragators.
With their specific properties, the Terragators are often used for nature restoration work. The special caterpillar tracks ensure low ground pressure and smooth turning without damaging the ground. With this emission upgrade, the machines are even better for nature.
